Question on Notice – 4 July 2012

“Under the Westminster convention of Individual Ministerial Responsibility a Minister is answerable to the Parliament and ultimately to the People of Australia for agencies in his portfolio. What are you as the Minister responsible for the Commonwealth Ombudsman going to do about the practice of the Ombudsman acting ultra vires and throwing complaints (Approaches) alleging serious misconduct by senior Australian Public Servants into the waste paper bin? An act that is a complete denial of natural justice (procedural fairness) to the Complainant”.
